The Beaver Cleavers of My Classroom

It is very disheartening to see the number of students that live with very little, if any support. I have a student that was recently put into foster care. He has a foster parent that is sitting down with him every night and going over his homework. That little bit of support has made a huge difference in a matter of days. It shows how much children can benefit from the interest of an adult figure at home. I have so many others that are wanting for attention. Many are missing one or both parents, some live in hotels, some live with grandparents that have to work full-time shifts to support them. Some come from abusive situations. Some are severely neglected.

These children need to be taught, but they also need to be loved.

It is impressive that some of these kids survive their childhood as well as they do. As my brother said, our job as parents is to scar our children as little as possible
